Back in December last year we did the ultimate styled shoot! Imagine taking your favourite disney film and making it into a shoot without all the cheese! Well we did just that WITH A TAKE AS OLD AS TIME.

Zoey and i had talked for months about doing a beauty and the beast styled wedding shoot, we had thrown great ideas around, and Zoey came up with an amazing mood board.

We wanted to take elements from beauty and the beast, to show a story of loving someone for who they are. “I also take from it that when we find true love we then have the strength and support to become who we really are” Says Zoey

So off we went on a tour of our wonderful City, manchester,  to find the perfect venue and boy did we! Nestled right behind the Urbis building in the city centre is a grand building still standing over 350 years later called Cheethams Library. As soon as we saw it we knew it was perfect for the shoot, with its dark wood and minimal lighting it was going to create the amazing backdrop we needed. The venue loved our idea and what we had planned and we’re quite excited to see what we can do with the space.

So, we set to work sourcing the rest of the suppliers, we just wanted to take hints from the movie such as the iconic rose, a tale old as time and books from the library. Zoey also wanted to include the woods and nature and a decadent feel because of the era it is set in and it also merges well with the dark rich colours we were using.

We are so lucky we have great relationships with amazing suppliers it really didn’t take us long to pull all the suppliers and models together, soon this shoot was starting to look amazing and we couldn’t wait for the shoot day! everyone loved the brief, and we couldn’t wait to see what would be created for the shoot.

With the venue being so old and fitting in perfect with the theme of the shoot, we didn’t have to do do a lot to it we just used its beautiful library, main event room and the outside to create the shoot. For the main room we used this for the wedding breakfast. Zoey wanted to make a feature of a huge feasting table for the wedding breakfast, the feast was supplied by The Little green platter company and WOW Karen really did go all out on the feast and create such an amazing feast! When it came to styling the table Zoey incorporated lots of elements, textures and height on the table to incorporate the theme and show how you can have something completely different. We have to say absolutely was the feature of the shoot, especially with the fantastic lighting and greenery hung above the table. the lighting was supplied by Peter Lockwood Events,  the greenery & flowers throught the shoot were supplied by Perfect Bouquet full of Flowers, who as always create the most amazing displays.

From a styling point of view, we also wanted to show that you can take elements of what you love, be it a film, travelling or even superheroes and you can do this in a stylish way. Adding small elements that tie into an all-over modern design helps add your personality without over taking the style or coming across tacky, which is the main concern when styling a themed wedding.

Lisa from Urban Cakehouse created us a cake that fitted our brief perfectly, our shoots always have a dark or moody element too them as thats what we like to do, so of course white cake was not going to cut it (excuse the punn) Lisa absolutely wowed us with her black on black cake! YEP….black on black, it was absolutely stunning, we know it ones be everyone’s cup of tea but for those who like to think outside the box they will love it! Lisa event incorporated the rose onto the top with broken shards of sugar glass to tie in with the enchanted rose in the glass casing.

We had the beautiful Victoria modeling for us in the most stunning gown provided by Legend Bridal, the detail on the dress was just amazing, but the wow factor for us was the hooded cape that went over the dress, it wowed us all and just fitted the shoot perfectly, Victoria looked amazing! Using the venue’s library for a huge portion of the shoot, Victoria just looked amazing and the lighting was perfect, we loved using this part of the venue with its old wooden panels and old book smells, it was just beautiful and tied in so perfectly with the theme of the shoot, we even got exclusive access into one of the areas!

The grounds of the venue are just lovely, and with our imagination and Zoey’s creativety, we created a forest look outside, again using lighting from Peter Lockwood Events, we did this part of the shoot just before sundown, so the lighting was perfect and oh so very romantic, it was a perfect moment to wrap the shoot with!

We completely enjoyed this shoot and taking a favourite film of ours and showing how you can incorporate it into your wedding without looking cheesy or tacky! We have to say a huge thank you to everyone involved but in particular to the FANTASTIC Marni of Marni V Photography, who captured the whole shoot perfectly, she has some amazing ideas on how to make the best of the lighting and areas and we loved every single shot from the shoot!
